How to arrange lotus flowers so they bloom beautifully and last long?

As mentioned to you, besides sharing professional knowledge, the website will also share more about social activities, art, life, and hobbies in the "Experiences" section. And if you have been following me for a while, especially in the summer, my personal Facebook features quite a few vases of lotus flowers arranged by family members.
Lotus – the national flower of Vietnam is beautiful, noble, and very fragrant. A vase of lotus flowers brings a sense of peace and healing to the room. If possible, placing a few lotus flowers in each hospital room can also help patients feel optimistic, cheerful, and even have a pain-relieving effect. The downside of this flower is that it is difficult to arrange, hard to bloom, and withers quickly, making people hesitant to arrange them. So in this article, I will "reveal" the secrets for those who don't know yet.
There are lotus types that need to be manually coaxed to open and self-blooming lotus types. You need to ask the seller about this because I myself don't remember all of them as there are currently dozens of lotus varieties on the market. But regardless of the type, the important thing is to soak them in water for about 2 to 3 hours so that all the lotus stems are fully saturated with water; only then will the flower bloom and the stem last longer. There are different ways to soak them, but it is best to invest in a plastic tube with a diameter of about 20 to 30 cm, a height of about 1 to 1.2 m, and sealed at one end. Then fill it with water and put the lotus stems in to soak as close to the flower head as possible. Of course, do not submerge the whole flower head in water.
After about 3 hours, you can take the lotus out for arrangement. Use a sharp knife to make a slanted cut on the stem to your desired length, avoiding the use of scissors as they can crush the stem, preventing the flower from absorbing enough water. You can arrange them using floral foam, a grid holder, or by cross-lacking the stems. I prefer cross-lacking the stems, which means arranging the stems one by one from highest to lowest. This method is difficult and time-consuming, but it is also a way to relax after a stressful week of work.

Regarding the longevity of the flowers, if they absorb enough water, the flowers will last for 2, 3 days, or even five days. But you know what, even when the lotus withers, it is still very beauty, so enjoying lotus flowers also means appreciating the withered lotus as well.
