Cosmetic suture combined with biological tissue glue: Benefits for patients following carpal tunnel syndrome surgery

Many people still think that after surgery, they will need multi-layer bandages, continuous dressing changes, and have to wait until suture removal day to be considered properly recovered. However, with certain modern surgical procedures, the application of cosmetic suturing combined with biological tissue adhesive has made postoperative care much simpler.

In modern medicine, the goal is not only to cure the disease but also to help patients recover faster, feel more comfortable, and minimize unnecessary postoperative inconveniences.

From around November 2025 to the present, I have applied cosmetic suturing combined with biological tissue adhesive in various hand surgeries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, and De Quervain's tenosynovitis. The essence of carpal tunnel syndrome surgery is to release the compression of the median nerve inside the carpal tunnel. The treatment efficacy depends on properly addressing the cause of compression, not on whether the skin is closed with traditional sutures or biological tissue adhesive.

On the contrary, skin closure using cosmetic suturing combined with biological tissue adhesive brings many benefits to patients after minor surgery:

▶️ No bandage changes needed, no suture removal required: The surgical incision is tightly closed with intradermal cosmetic sutures and a protective adhesive layer on the outside. Patients do not have to return multiple times just for dressing changes or suture removal like before.

▶️ Greater convenience in daily activities: After surgery, patients can still bathe and maintain personal hygiene relatively easily. They only need to avoid prolonged soaking in water or warm/hot water and dry the area after bathing or washing their hands.

▶️ Easier wound care, reduced risk of infection: Limiting self-removal of bandages and continuous self-dressing changes helps reduce unnecessary manipulations on the incision while creating a favorable environment for skin healing.

▶️ Higher aesthetic outcome: With no suture marks on the skin surface, scars are usually neater with a lower risk of hypertrophic or unsightly scarring.

Simpler care helps many people feel more comfortable and confident during their recovery, minimizing disruptions to daily life and work, and reducing unnecessary postoperative worries.

Many of my patients used to be very afraid of surgery, thinking they would need a long recovery period, continuous dressing changes, or have to endure many inconveniences. But upon actual experience, they realized that the recovery process was much gentler than they had imagined.

Medicine is constantly evolving to aim for greater safety, effectiveness, and convenience for patients. And for me, cosmetic suturing combined with biological tissue adhesive is one of the small innovations that brings immense value to patients today.
